Here’s a song I remember from childhood, “I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK. But I’ll continue to be a regular at my favorite breakfast haunts: They feel more like home. The location across the street from the Fowler Center has struggled for years in different restaurant iterations, but I think Lumberjacks will be more of a permanent fixture.Īnything that brings some economic stability to our area, I’m all for. Lumberjacks is a step up from any typical coffee house chain, like Denny’s, for example. But with the specials you can get ham and eggs for as little as $3.99. Like any new place, people kept coming by to ask “Is everything OK?” a few too many times.Īll told, the tab came to $10.80. The coffee was served in a huge cup: Always a double-edged sword for me because it can get cold faster. The fruit, an orange slice, was tired looking. The bacon was good, better than expected the eggs were undercooked (I asked for “over medium” it happens all the time) the hash browns were the basic but the toast, a sourdough, was better than you’d expect. You could get a chicken-friend steak for $4.99, but I opted for Applewood smoked bacon and eggs and coffee. I did not see fit to get into a discussion with the men next to me about diversifying our “old” economy of logging and the like to a more “green” one. The core eaters were more conservative than progressive, judging from the looks of things. This feeling comes up every now and then. It reminded me of a coffee house that I might visit when I was on a fishing vacation - then I reminded myself that this is home, not a vacation. The decor is a green and beige color scheme, lots of wood and “lumberjack-like” decor. I sat at the counter, next to a mix of old and new: A continuous running loop of a lumberjack contest (shown on ESPN) on a flat-screen TV. Since Lumberjacks is supposedly “where the big boys eat,” I decided “why not?” It wasn’t too full - as it had been in recent weeks. Lefty’s is no longer serving breakfast, but it was one of the best it town. ![]() I have my favorite breakfast spots - Ike’s, Tofanelli’s, Kane’s, South Pine or the “early bird special” at the Nevada City Classic Cafe - are among them. Using the grove requires a payment of 100 trading sticks while using the Kharazi Jungle requires partial completion of Legends Quest. ![]() This can be done in either the hardwood grove in Tai Bwo Wannai or in the Kharazi Jungle. Here’s a “scooplet”: Lumberjacks is thinking about going to Willits next. Im a Lumberjack and Im Okay is an achievement that requires the player to cut a teak log from a teak tree. There’s also a Lumberjacks in Redding, Yuba City and Sacramento. The same is true here, so I checked out the new Lumberjacks restaurant near the Fowler Center for breakfast, whose opening I wrote about previously. Kelly Newell, our DA Cliff Newell’s wife, once correctly pointed out to me that anything new in a small town draws out the curiosity seekers in droves: She joked about a new escalator in Chico, I recall.
